Im not going to get my hopes up for this game because this game will most likely end up with the paying players being stronger and having a better advantage. And for stupid upgrades as well...I've got my eyes set on Command and Conquer Generals 2. 1st qt of 2013
athena0starfire
There will be no surprise there... EVERY Perfect World game is 'Pay-to-Win' (they turned STO into it) so you can be assured that this is how NW will be. There is no doubt about it. Its already starting with 'Founders Packs' for a announced 'Free-to-Play' game to give paying customers the advantage.
kvet
There are two MMO business models. The traditional subscriber-only model and the F2P micropayments for higher-quality upgrades. Any game that allows players to play for free has the second model -- it's not just Cryptic or PWI, they're hardly unique. The one thing PWI does that is a little better (IMO) is they don't sell their software whereas many "free to play" games still require you buy the software, but can then access the service freely and then also offer micro-payment upgrades. You can bet C
kvet
You can bet C
kvet
(sorry, the comments engine doesn't like ampersands I guess) You can bet C and C will have a very similiar model, since their site says: "Generals 2 has evolved to something new - A free AAA Command
kvet
(good god) A free AAA Command and Conquer Service." So, you can get a tank for free, but to get the super-dooper-nuke-tank, you can pay $20. Just trying to bring perspective here -- PWI didn't invent this model, and we should all get used to it because every MMO will end up this way. Why? It makes a HECK of a lot more money than traditional monthly subscriptions do.
epion421 @ Jan 31st, 2013 7:18PM
lol if i had know i would not have payed for a game i wont be able to play on weekend i work on weekend
athena0starfire @ Jan 31st, 2013 5:55PM
I hope people don't think this will be ANYWHERE NEAR the enjoyment of Biowares NW or Bauldars Gate. With the look of the interface and the small ridiculous hot key setup (like another pretender Diablo 3). I hope PW and Cyptic are not just banking on the former popularity of NW. They will never come close. The "Foundry" looks like the same P.O.S. STO has with different Graphics..no where near the Aurora toolset of NWN1 and 2. IMHO. Another company trying to get rich on someone elses great works (and the stupidity of those thing this will be like he original NW and suck money from them)
infusionman
Sorry if this sounds terse but I find comments like yours annoying and unproductive. If all you can do is complain about it...it says to me that I would never hire you to work in my company...you have no real solutions to your complaints..so..I will probably see you in game and you will be pissing your pants with excitment because it will..like most things in life...surprise you. There is what we know...and what we THINK we know. Anyway...enjoy your day!
mcvae @ Jan 31st, 2013 12:29PM
from what i am understanding. is that all thhis stuff carries over to normal game as well.
dharkman
I am seeing it that way also and being a big fan and player of all things Never Winter I am good with it.
thaplayah86 @ Jan 31st, 2013 12:10PM
What about raiderz pack which includes a key to beta? i paid just for that i will get that key?
vv1961 @ Jan 31st, 2013 10:02AM
So Perfect World do D
vv1961
And PWE completely wipes out most of my comment. Nice one
mok33
The power of the ampersand.
ladyeldaron1 @ Jan 31st, 2013 7:32AM
all I want to know is when do i get to download this beta so i can start playing it on feb 8?
mok33
Soon.
kingshortswords @ Jan 31st, 2013 6:50AM
Hmmm... When I registered my key for a free horse (received from a PC Gamer issue) It told me I would not only have the item in game, but would also have beta access from registering the horse. Now with all the founder packs coming out, I'm not so sure if this is perfectly true... Any Ideas?
manathayria
It applies the same from what I understand - it states you'll have a beta key, but not if it's closed or open or when you'll get in. It also states you'll get a random of one of the two horses.
kvet
It is true, read the forum announcement - it will tell you when you'll get access. they haven't (as of now) put all the groups under dates. I'd guess you'll be in Group 3 for just PC Gamer, but that's just my personal opinion from looking at the different groups they've already listed.
rob75 @ Jan 31st, 2013 3:27AM
I'm not even sure my computer will run the game. I had some video card issues with RaiderZ, so I'm very hesitant to drop $200 for items I may not even be able to use. Guess I'll have to stay patient and see if I get a beta key soon.
lowniss40 @ Jan 31st, 2013 3:14AM
Not complaining but just stating I supported Champions Online with my 200 lifer sub before I even knew if I would like the game. The client wasn't even available to download when I paid for it. I happened to not like the game...well ya that's the gamble. Now paying another 200 if you break that down monthly that is 13.3 months if it was a 15 a month sub cost. Whether the game is awesome or not 13 months is probably the average someone plays a sub model before it goes stale ..maybe even less time than that. I've lit fire to too much money with fizzled mmo's like Gw2 and collectors SWTOR and played them less than 6 months. Usually you can always unlock or obtain the mounts and special races at some point in time. Amazing how forum crying works these days. Hang tight and don't let the goodies bag make you purchase.
athena0starfire
NW is free to play, there will be no subcription (but most likely will be pay-to-win (cash shop/item mall)
starbear @ Jan 31st, 2013 2:16AM
My question is will our characters move over to launch, $200 is a lot to pay for playtime that'll get deleted.
mok33
Open beta might but it's an unknown at this point.
thiha12 @ Jan 31st, 2013 1:46AM
time and tide wait for no man
saoish @ Jan 31st, 2013 12:14AM
Dis game just so expensive to buy, and only for 2 days playing a month? The legendary races r so much more expensive dat make the game unbalanced, y just dont ppls to chose the races they want? or how can it be sure dat players feel worth to make the purchasing, dis is pretty unreliable.
kvet
Dis? Dis comment iz pOwnd. packz jus 1 ting. udder races wilz be in da game dat u don gotz to pay 4. laz man.
valledk @ Jan 30th, 2013 10:47PM
So i've bought the guardian version. How does it work with the access... I'm i supposed to get a key to redeem or does it happen automatically. Nothing is stated in the emails i've gotten.
claymeow @ Jan 30th, 2013 10:18PM
It says I have a "Display Name Conflict"....how could someone else choose my same name? I've had a PW account for awhile.
ruikesan85 @ Jan 30th, 2013 9:17PM
You sly devils you...weekend 3 is the same weekend as midsouthcon.
mastrshadow
It also matches the PAX East dates. :(
gimpdaddy69 @ Jan 30th, 2013 8:37PM
i just hope there's gonna be a pre-load before the servers go live otherwise i have a feeling this is just gonna end badly
kittieshaufer @ Jan 30th, 2013 8:16PM
You know, I'm a STO lifer, and I was actually kinda starting to look forward to this after it was announced that STO lifers would get closed beta access. But after reading all the posts(including the ones made by PWI staff), I can't help but feel a little cheated. STO lifers only get in on the last two days.
mok33
Actually STO lifers get in on 2 of the 3 beta weekends currently. You just miss out on the first one.
scyhhe1
that might be the case mok33 , but I feel like STO/CO lifers should be on all of them since they've supported these companies for a longer time than for example a person who just buys the 200$ and gets all the shit. What im trying to say is these people already paid and deserve a spot here and now , in a way , they are just asking them for more money....They promised if I remember correctly that sto/co lifers will get full beta access... plus , the 2nd/3rd beta weekends are more than a month away from now :).Im not even a STO/CO lifer , but i feel their pain...
mastrshadow
I don't agree. They were only promised guarenteed beta access, NOT day 1 beta access. Day 1 beta access would not have enough room in the beta for every lifetime sub. They need to phase people in. It's the same with any beta. It starts off with a small group of a few hundred to a few thousand and ramps up from there. I'm sure there are well more than that in lifetime subs across the other two games. Don't put words in CS mouth or rage against them because you didn't comprehend the difference between guarenteed access and guarenteed day 1 access.
corinthus1138 @ Jan 30th, 2013 6:38PM
What exactly is vip game access. Does it mean that you will get priority login access forever or just the beta weekend, Trying to decide which pack to buy I want the horse over the spider.
rosstheboss96 @ Jan 30th, 2013 6:23PM
So I've been playing in the Alpha testing, will I be able to beta test for free?
ty81 @ Jan 30th, 2013 5:45PM
OMG 95% of you are whiney babies.. who cares about the BETA??? I care about the game play.. they are trying to make money to FUND the game that they are GIVING AWAY for free.. if you want cool shit pay money and get beta access as a bonus, if you just wanna play the game, dont pay money and enjoy the damn game... lol or cry over 3 weekends of lost BETA time that isnt actual game time.. whatever im just lol'ing at how people are reacting to nothing lol...
wadsent
They are not trying to fund anything, you crack me up. This is a decision by the Publishers, a fine little trick to get alot of money from gullible teenagers. There is no need at all to set the bar at min 60$ for beta access, when all other mmo do it at 20$ It's pathetic.
izzabeli @ Jan 30th, 2013 4:48PM
This is the closed beta?.. I paid for a Lifetime to CO so I could get into closed beta.... so I can pay $200 more for a two day freaking closed beta!?!.. What the heck?! this is bullshit.
volrath1986
you still will get in. but not into the 2nd weekend calm down
corinthus1138 @ Jan 30th, 2013 4:43PM
This is ridiculous, No way Am I playing this game now. I would rather pay a subscription fee than pay 200 dollars for 3 beta weekends and "founder status". You suck Perfect World BIGTIME!
corinthus1138
Okay, I overreacted I didnt look close enough at the founders pack, I did not mean What I said I was just frustrated.
infusionman @ Jan 30th, 2013 4:38PM
Hey this is great news..love to get my key for this. Seems like alot of forum rage here..if there is an issue I feel it lay with the marketing team. I am a business coach by trade and know what the play is here. If you look at the difference between the price points..its an obvious choice to take the middle one..so...if you want in...take the middel one and stop griping about the 200$ option..value is percieved folks..and they are testing their public's value perception on this game...see it for what it is..the statisitic of how many buy what option will send them a clear message that their price points are..a little off the mark. Jus sayin.
honzo @ Jan 30th, 2013 3:56PM
Best this about being a gamer that works full time... I could care less about $200 so I'm going to go ahead and buy the pack ;) I played Neverwinter Nights 2 back in the day and loved it. I've always wanted to learn more about the DnD universs, mostly because I never had the chance of ever playing the tabletop version =P
