Orcs in Neverwinter
By Pinpointerror @ February 20, 2013 at 6:00am

Your adventures ahead in Neverwinter will be an exciting and rewarding one. However, you must be wary of the dangers that await. From the smallest creatures to the most imposing, do not take any encounters lightly or they may be your last in the Forgotten Realms. Travel cautiously with your party as you dungeon delve and explore the darkest regions of Neverwinter.
During your travels, you will encounter creatures known as Orcs. Orcs have always been a race unto themselves and a threat to the civilized cultures of Faerûn for as long as anyone can remember. Early legends even speak of the orc god Gruumsh having lost his eye in battle with Corellon, god of the eladrin and elven races.
Their race's history is cloaked in mystery and very little is known about their ancestors. However, what is known is a tragic tale of deceit, betrayal, and a clear delineation of the orc line. King Obould XVIII of the Kingdom of Many-Arrows sent a vanguard of orcs to explore options in Neverwinter. But the commander he entrusted with the task – the power-hungry Vansi Bloodscar – far exceeded her orders. Rather than report back about the city’s state, she pressed through its walls and established a base in the Cloak Tower, claiming territory in Neverwinter’s ruined northern half in the old Tower District.
While King Obould XVIII rules the Kingdom of Many-Arrows, Vansi Bloodscar is the commander of the Many-Arrows orc contingent in Neverwinter. While it is rumored that Valindra had approached Vansi about subservience of the orcs, Vansi declared she served another master greater than the Thayans.
In combat, the orcs are ruthless and merciless. Orcs typically travel in warbands. Some warbands consist of nothing more than a few drudges and axe throwers, but tougher warbands include battle-tested orcs, powerful Eye of Gruumsh leaders, and even ogres the orcs have convinced to join in their raiding.
If you are willing to test your might against the mighty orcs, they can be found all over the Tower District as well as in the Cloak Tower dungeon. There are a number of orc war leaders found through the Tower District, but the most notable is Vansi Bloodscar herself. Vansi lairs in the dungeons deep below the Cloak Tower.
Orcs are just one of nearly countless enemies you will face throughout your quest in the Forgotten Realms. With insight into their troubled past and how they currently operate in Neverwinter, you are more prepared than ever to face orcs in battle. Be strong, adventurer, and be victorious!

Let them come. A thousand at a time XD

Poor misdirected orcs. Darn Vansi Bloodscar! Making her race look bad and monstrous once again. Hopefully we'll get to align with a few of them that are still loyal to King Obould XVIII's whim. Hell, I'd even pay to play as one, but I'd prefer for such racial unlocks to be done through a legacy system.

i want my ORC, orc, orc sorry Half Orc (half human / half Orc with plus three to strength).
somthgelse @ Feb 27th, 2013 9:13PM
Nice, keep the backstory coming. I actually read this stuff. A tragic reality forcing the orcs to invade would be a cool read for me. Or a nasty piece of politicking. Hey remember when the clerics were infecting everyone with their blessings? Ooo ahhh....
zenindel @ Feb 23rd, 2013 10:12PM
Very cool, I love the story line for the orcs and how they are in several forgotten realm books. about time my favorite author is part of a game im going to play.

Love it. Can't wait to see what will be showcased in the next beta weekend. Please do us all the favour and release a launch date. Doesn't seem fair we are in beta with no set launch date after the weekends are complete...jus sayin ..not complainin. ;-)

I really liked my Horc dual khopesh kensai fighter in DDO. I could almost bet that Horc would be one of the first races added. I am also really looking forward to a Monk and some psionics down the road. 4th ed. really seems to streamline and handle the psionics really well, would love to have Gyths and Thri Kreen as some of the playable races in a psionic expansion. One of my all time fave characters was a Thri Kreen brawler rogue that specialized in movement and making other things move.

P. S. This game is making me wish my life away. I find myself wishing that it was already time for Beta Weekend.

Perhaps you should just stick to the paper n pencil...its obvious that way will fulfill your wish list far faster...

Hmm guess my reply didn't post earlier. I think that Paper DnD and MMO and CRPG DnD all bring different things to the table and I enjoy all of them for what they are. I was just thinking about that brawler rogue, he was more of a tactician, almost like a tank, he was all about forcing the enemy into combat advantage for himself and others. More of a full frontal assault, martial artist, type of rogue than your typical backstabbing stealth builds in MMO's. The fact that he was a giant bug made it even more interesting in that he could move along walls and ceilings for short bursts and I was thinking that would be amazing to implement in an MMO. Tough for sure, but it would bring something completely new and different to the table for rogues in MMO games not to mention something new period to have not only flat plane positioning important but also introduce the geometry of the game world into combat in a true 3D way.
